Student and Scholar Health Insurance
Indiana University offers student insurance plans for certain groups that are required to have coverage, including International Students and Scholars, as well as students in the IU School of Medicine, IU School of Dentistry, IU School of Health and Human Sciences, and IU School of Optometry. Additionally, graduate students with an Graduate Appointment or Fellowship Award may be eligible for coverage. Students who are required to have coverage are automatically enrolled in the plan and notified about the coverage at the beginning of each semester of enrollment at IU. International Scholars will be contacted with information on how to enroll when arriving to campus.
Please note that Indiana University does not have a mandatory insurance requirement for all enrolled students, however some specific IU programs may require proof of insurance. Speak with your department if you have to submit proof of coverage for enrollment in your specific program. The university does not offer a plan that allows voluntary enrollment for students at this time. Students who are eligible for insurance will be directly contacted with plan information. If you have additional questions regarding health insurance coverage, please contact the Student Health Insurance Coordinator at for additional information.
