• International students
• Visiting scholars
• Intensive English Program (IEP & PIE) students

Optional Practical Training (OPT) students can also enroll when eligible.

Professional plan

You are automatically enrolled in this plan if you are a domestic graduate student in the following health science programs:

• School of Medicine
• School of Dentistry
• School of Health and Human Sciences
• School of Optometry
• Department of Speech-Language Pathology Master’s & Doctor of Audiology program

You may be able to waive this plan if you already have other health coverage.

SAA, postdoc, and fellowship recipient plan

You are automatically enrolled in this plan if you are a member of the following groups:

• Student academic appointees (SAAs) appointed at 37.5 FTE or greater and enrolled in at least six credit hours or the G901 thesis/dissertation equivalent each semester (summer excluded)
• Appointed postdoctoral fellows, for example, T-32 grant recipients
• Fellowship recipients with an award of $6,750 or more per semester (Fall and/or Spring) and enrolled in at least six credit hours or the G901 thesis/dissertation equivalent each semester (summer excluded).
