Benefits for Student Academic Appointees and Appointed Postdoctoral Fellows
Beginning with the 2024-25 academic year, Anthem is teaming up with University Health Plans (UHP) to administer your IU benefits. Details about your benefits including plan summaries, forms to enroll dependents or waive coverage, and information about your emergency travel assistance benefits can now be found on the UHP website.
Questions
Contact the Student Insurance Coordinator at or 812-856-4650 for questions about your benefits.
You are automatically enrolled in benefits at the start of each fall and spring semester if you meet the following criteria:
- Student Academic Appointees (SAAs) appointed at 37.5 FTE or greater who are enrolled in at least six credit hours or the G901 thesis/dissertation equivalent.
- Appointed Postdoctoral Fellows, e.g. T-32 grants.
Once your department or academic office has completed the SAA hire process, you will receive an email at your IU email address notifying you of your automatic enrollment in IU benefits. The university pays the full premium cost for your coverage. You can also enroll your eligible spouse and children for an additional cost. Visit the UHP website for details.
