Update: Required changes due to Fair Labor Standards Act

On November 15, a federal judge in the Eastern District Court of Texas ruled to strike down the pending Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime final rule. The ruling strikes down all components of the rule. The decision applies to all covered employers and employees under the FLSA nationwide. Read the online alert issued by CUPA-HR.

With the cancellation of pending January 1, 2025 legislation, no transitions to non-exempt or pay adjustments related the FLSA will occur at this time.

Action required

If you have informed employees about potential changes at IU to remain compliant with the pending legislation, please make them aware that the legislation has been halted and no changes will be implemented at this time.

Please note: Although the ruling also strikes down July 1, 2024 FLSA legislation, the changes made at IU to accommodate it will remain in effect.
