Position Description for Staff Positions

The purpose of this form is to document the specific duties and responsibilities of an individual position. It can also be used to describe a unique position or business need when an appropriate role descriptor is not able to be found in the IU Career Navigator*.

Position descriptions have many purposes, including ongoing performance management and development, staffing analysis, documenting unique aspects of a position, and more.

Position descriptions are not maintained by IUHR Compensation.

*IUHR Compensation will utilize the information/details provided in the position description form to review the position request and consider a recommendation. Completing this form will not automatically trigger a new role descriptor be created.

How to use this form:

  1. Fill in the sections. Click "Continue" or "Previous" to move between the pages.
  2. When completed, click the "Submit" button on the last page.
  3. An email will be sent to the address entered in the Submitter's Information Section of this form. It will contain the contents of the form and spaces for digital signature(s). It can be copied and pasted into a Word document for further editing and saving.
