Rethinking Careers at IU

Indiana University Human Resources conducted a thorough review and redesign of IU’s classification structure for appointed staff positions. With university-wide input, the Job Framework Redesign Project retired existing classification structures—alongside outdated labels like professional, service, and support—and introduced a job framework that is clear, consistent, and transparent.

This modern framework accurately reflects our workforce and features easily navigated career paths that empower staff to self-direct their careers while strengthening IU’s ability to retain, attract, and inspire talent. The new framework supports current and prospective staff employees, who make it possible for IU to fulfill the promise of being a world leader in education.

The new job framework launched on February 21, 2021. This website contains information to help you understand how the new framework’s construction allows you to explore career opportunities at IU in a new way.
