INSTRUCTIONS
Please carefully review criteria prior to submission. Only nominees that meet all criteria and have nomination documentation that meets all guidelines will be forwarded to the selection committees for consideration.
Nominee Criteria:
- Must be on full-time appointment
- Must have three or more years of full-time continuous IU service (part-time employment does not count)
- May only be nominated once per year
- Past recipients of the Staff Merit Award are not eligible for nomination
- Re-nominations are encouraged as long as they continue to meet eligibility criteria
Three letters of recommendation must accompany the nomination form
- Each recommendation letter must be from one individual and should not exceed one page in length.
- One of the three letters must be from the nominee’s supervisor.
- More than three letters will not be accepted.
- Each letter must include why the individual is being nominated.
Examples used to describe past winners:
- Attitude and performance above and beyond the position
- Extreme dedication to their position
- Impressive work ethics
- Supportive, pleasant and helpful to their co-workers
- Taking on additional tasks to help the department, school or students
- Embodies the best values, dedication and excellent service
Only nominations meeting all criteria and guidelines above will be forwarded to the selection committees for consideration.
Top candidates in each of the three categories will be identified and interviewed by their respective selection committees.

- Non-Exempt Service: AFSCME Service and IATSE Staff (SM and TE)
- Non-Exempt Support: CWA and Non-Union Staff (PAA, PAC, and PAO)
- Exempt Staff (PAE and PAL) - Core, Career, Advanced, and Operational levels
